QUILT RULES/
SPECIFICATIONS
1. Minimum of three layers (backing, batting, and top) joined together with stitching. (a finished edge is not required)
2. A total Perimeter of no more than 160 inches.
3. Must have 4” hanging sleeve.
4. Must feature imagery or design elements including or inspired by the roadside attraction, Carhenge.
5. All individuals who worked on the design or construction of entry, whether paid or not, must be properly credited (excluding basting assistance)
6. Each individual quilt counts as one entry. Diptychs, triptychs, etc. must be entered separately and will be evaluated and hung separately.
Artwork that does not meet the requirements within this prospectus will not be accepted.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
NUMBER OF ENTRIES: A maximum of three entries per artist are allowed.
SUBMISSION OPTIONS: You can submit entries by mail, email, or in person. Mailed submissions will be sent to 204 W 4th St. Alliance, NE 69301. Emailed submissions will be sent to art@carnegieartscenter.com.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Entry must include a completed form, 2 photos of each quilt, and cash, check, or marked as paid (if online) entry fee. All entry information is final once submitted. No changes post submission will be accepted.
IMAGES: Two photos are required of each submitted quilt. 1st required photo is a flat overall image of the front of quilt with edges fully visible. 2nd required photo must be a detailed shot of the quilt.
EMAIL SUBMISSION: If submitting photo and form by email, images must be submitted as high quality .jpg files, but no larger than 5MB in files size.
The email must include your images as attachments. DO NOT paste images into the email document. The file name(s) for the images should be the same as the title of the piece. You must also include the entry form as an attachment (it can be typed, or a photocopy.) The text body of the email needs to include the artist’s name and ALL contact information.
MAIL SUBMISSION: If submitting the physical piece or mailing an image, the piece or photo needs to be labeled with the artist’s name, title of work, dimensions, and medium. This is to ensure there is no question that we have the correct information about each artwork. Hardcopy photos will be kept by the arts center and not returned to the artist.
ENTRY FEES: Entry fees can be mailed, delivered in person, or paid through Carnegie’s website under Exhibits/Carhenge Quilt Challenge. Payment method must be marked at the bottom of submission form.
LABELING: Accepted works must have identification on the back with artist’s name, collaborators (if applicable), title, and price. If you bring work in boxes or containers, please make sure that all containers are very clearly marked with your name, phone, and title/titles of pieces).
SALES
Sale of artwork is encouraged but not required. Any piece not for sale will be marked NFS. Carnegie Arts Center retains 35% commission on all sales directly related to
the show. Please price all pieces to include this commission. Carnegie is not liable if the artist misprices a piece on the entry form and it is sold through the gallery. Accepted
works may not be withdrawn or removed prior to the close of the exhibition by the artist unless it has been agreed upon by the gallery.
SHIPPING/INSURANCE
Artists are responsible for transit and insurance costs of artwork being transported to and from CAC. If you wish your work to be shipped back to you, this must be discussed with CAC staff two weeks
prior to end of exhibit and amount for shipping must be prepaid by artist. If shipping has not been pre-discussed with CAC staff, then all entered works should be
picked up by the artist no later than October 10th. CAC is not liable for any artwork left by artist at facility after that date.
Carnegie Arts Center insures artwork during exhibition in the gallery. In case of damage, theft or other destruction to the artist’s work in which the artist is to be paid or reimbursed, the artist will receive 65% of the selling price listed on entry form.
ACCEPTED QUILTS
All accepted quilts will be sent an Acceptance Packet including but not limited to quilt preparation, shipping instructions, deadlines, and an exhibition contract with the Carnegie Arts Center.
