GLUE BATIK BANNERS
WHAT: Students will learn how to create their own fabric designs through the process of "Batik" from artist and art instructor Sandi Blankenship
WHEN: Sat 21, Sun 22
The class will be two sessions on two separate days.
TIME: Sat 1-2pm Sun 1-2pm
THE PROCESS: 1ST DAY: The first day kiddos will draw out their design for their fabric
banners. They will trace their designs with glue. This will be about an hour
long process. The glue will need to dry overnight.
2ND DAY: The next day students will come in and
paint their fabric to dye it. The pieces will dry overnight and then be washed
out. The glue will act as a resist to the paint and where the glue was will be
crisp white lines surrounded by the beautiful colored paints the kiddos applied.
WHY: This is a process that the kiddos can take
home and apply to other imagery they'd like to create, they can apply this to
shirts, flags, bags, etc. You're kiddo will learn how to design their own textiles from this process!
